Bitfinex has pivoted hard on price: since December 17, 2025 it charges zero maker/taker fees across spot, margin, derivatives, securities, and OTC. That alone reshapes its value for active traders, especially those who scale in and out or run high‑turnover strategies. Feature‑wise, Bitfinex remains one of the most complete venues: spot, margin up to 10x with a true P2P funding market, perpetuals up to 100x, soft staking, an OTC desk, paper trading, and extensive APIs. Security posture includes U2F, withdrawal whitelists, and offline cold storage claims. The biggest caveat: Bitfinex is not available to U.S. Persons, and fiat rails carry bank wire fees, so your cost base shifts to on/off‑ramp and network fees. Documentation is solid and the platform caters well to API users and institutions, with advanced order types and connectivity. If you’re outside the U.S. and want deep functionality with zero trading fees, Bitfinex is compelling; just price in fiat and network movements.
